Favorite clean hair care
I’m working to eliminate unnecessary toxin exposure from my hair care. Over the last year I’ve tried a few popular clean shampoo and conditioner brands with varying success. Before transitioning over to clean hair care, I used and was very happy with the Kerastase Genesis line, so my goal was to find a clean shampoo and conditioner that worked equally as well. Keep reading to learn which hair care lines I’ve tried, and my favorite clean hair care so far.
Grown Alchemist
I tried their shampoo and conditioner first because I loved Grown Alchemist’s sleek branding and product packaging. Their Nourishing shampoo and conditioner scored a zero on the Think Dirty app and most of their products have pretty positive reviews, but these were my least favorite. I had to use a tremendous amount of shampoo in order for my hair to not feel greasier than before I shampooed. Double shampooing was necessary for my hair to feel clean. Their conditioner worked fine, but this brand ended up being a hard pass for me because the shampoo wasn’t effective.
Prose
I’m pretty satisfied with Prose. They promote custom hair care designed for the individual, and it’s a fun experience getting a product made just for you. Their hair care smelled nice (you can pick your scent), and I didn’t have to use too much shampoo for it to work. Unfortunately, I had to shampoo my hair way too often. I suspect it was the silicon in their formula, but I needed to shampoo every 2-3 days. With Kerastase I only shampooed every 5-6 days, so I decided to keep looking.
Under Luna
I found Under Luna through one of my favorite health influencers, @VitallyMelanie. You can find a thorough review of Under Luna in her Instagram Highlights. So far, Under Luna is my favorite clean hair care. Their formulation is clean and free of seed oils, they only use essential oils to fragrance, and I can go 4-5 days without needing to shampoo. With double-shampooing and using on my children, I’m about half-way through the 17 oz bottles I order in May. I use the Warrior Shampoo and Serenity Conditioner.
