My favorite USA-made furnishings
In honor of July 4 last week, I’m sharing three of my favorite retailers whose furnishings and accessories are all or mostly USA-made. Buying from domestic manufacturers supports your local economy and reduces environmental impact. It takes a lot more and a heavier fuel to transport goods across the ocean than it does across the state. Here are three retailers whose products I either own and love, or are on my wishlist.
Room and Board
On their website Room and Board states, “More than 90% of or products are manufactured in America using the best quality U.S. and imported materials.” I purchased a dresser from Room and Board a few years back and it is, by far, the best quality piece of furniture I own. The wood is solid and heavy, the finish is beautiful, and the drawers still glide as smoothly as the day I got it. They no longer sell my exact dresser, but their Berkeley dresser has a similar look and finish. Next on my wishlist is the Chilton 72” dining table.
Farmhouse Pottery
Based in Woodstock, Vermont, Farmhouse Pottery offers one-of-a-kind handmade pottery, décor, candles, bakeware, and gifts. They produce heirloom-quality pottery that is beautifully functional. I own the medium Olive Oil Bottle, and plan to add the Pantry Bowl set and Cheese Stone to my collection next
Maiden Home
Last year I had my heart set on Maiden Home’s The Sullivan sofa but changed my mind at the last minute to a popular sofa from a big-box retailer. I’ve regretted this decision every feather-poking, fabric-pilling day. All of Maiden Home’s furniture is designed in their NY studio and handcrafted in North Carolina.
These retailers share a commitment to manufacturing USA-made, timeless, handcrafted furnishings and accessories of exceptional quality. Who are some of your favorite retailers who manufacture their goods in the USA?
