Favorite paint colors
Paint is the easiest way to transform a space. Selecting a paint color for your home is very personal and can be influenced by lighting, furniture, the way the home faces, and how you see color. If you want to create a beautiful, calming space, read on for my tried-and-true favorite paint colors.
Chantilly Lace
For walls my go-to is Chantilly Lace. It’s a true, bright white with no warm or cool undertones. It always looks pure white in different lighting and when used with other colors.
TIP: to simplify paint selections in a room, use Chantilly Lace in different finishes – satin on walls, gloss on trim, and matte on ceilings.
White Dove
My favorite white paint for cabinetry and exteriors is White Dove. It’s a soft white that brings a touch of warmth. It’s a beautiful option that never disappoints.
Gray Owl
Gray Owl is a light gray paint color with green/blue undertones. It’s my favorite neutral gray color for walls and looks best with other cool, crisp colors and bright whites like Chantilly Lace.
Revere Pewter
If you’re looking for the perfect warm gray or greige, look no further than Revere Pewter. With a subtle olive undertone, it’s a great choice for walls, cabinets, trim, doors, and pairs beautifully with warmer whites like White Dove.
Platinum Gray
Another great choice for cabinets, trim, and doors is Platinum Gray. It’s a soft, neutral, medium gray. It’s cooler than Revere Pewter, and pairs well with bright whites like Chantilly Lace. I will often lighten this to 50-75% when using in larger spaces like kitchen cabinets to keep the space looking modern, light, and bright.
Kendall Charcoal
Kendall Charcoal is a rich, dark, warm, neutral gray. It works well on doors, home exteriors, and bathroom vanities. Consider using Kendall Charcoal when you want a true dark grey that’s softer than black.
Iron Ore
My favorite color for a dark exterior is Iron Ore. It’s a cool, deep charcoal that looks modern against light wood accents. I stay away from using Iron Ore on interior walls, but have used sparingly on interior doors and accents. If you really want this color to shine, use it outside.
Newburg Green
Newburg Green is a deep, rich teal that can almost pass for a neutral. Use it in an office paired with a camel sofa and burlwood desk for a moody, modern space. Newburg Green is also on my shortlist for kitchen cabinets in the Cabin On The Creek.
Hale Navy
For a rich, classic, navy blue I use Hale Navy. It pairs well with so many other paint colors, and stays true in any lighting. This cool, sophisticated color is one of my favorites for dark bathroom vanities when paired with warm brass fixtures and lighter floors.
Painting is the perfect way to freshen up your space. I hope my favorite paint colors help inspire your next interior design project.
